G.U.I.D.E. TRAINING

GUIDE Keynote2ds.001

One of the most important things that we can do as a church is to be good stewards of the guests that God sends to us. I was recently privileged to lead a “Guests Experience” seminar at Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Ferndale, Michigan pastored by Rev. David McCool. Below is the outline that I used with their team. The quotes and a lot of the ideas came from Nelson Searcy’s great book, “Fusion: Turning First-Time Guests into Fully-Engaged Members of Your Church.” The acroymn “G.U.I.D.E.” is original with me. Feel free to use what you can.

THE “PURPOSE” FOR A
GREAT GUEST EXPERIENCE

Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

  • “If you fail to prepare, than you prepare to fail.”
  • “The church is a family expecting Guests.” ~ Andy Stanley
  • “The more prepared a church is to receive guests, the more guests it receives.”
  • “In the first seven minutes of contact with your church, your first-time guests will
know whether or not they are coming back.”
  • “Deliver your vision plus one percent” ~ Raving Fan
  • “Consistency is critical. Consistency creates credibility.”

THE “PROCESS” FOR A

  • Welcome people in the parking lot and at the front door

U.NVIEL THE BUILDING

  • “The condition of your building, your sign, your grass and your parking lot all speak to guests.”
  • Give guests a tour around the building (ie. restrooms, classrooms, etc.)

  • If so seat them by their family or friend, If not, invite them to sit with you
