There are not too many things more exciting than a bag of building blocks! I love the old tagline of Lowe’s, “Let’s Build Something Together!” If you would like to focus on a night of prayer for a spirit of unity in your ministry, all you need is a bag of blocks, blank labels and some pens.
Read Ephesians 4:16, “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
Pass out a building block with a blank label on the block to each one of your participants. Then ask them, “What does it take to build unity in our ministry?” Have them write a “building block” for unity statement on the blocks. Then, as the leader, you read your statement and then place your block on the alter. Encourage others to bring their blocks, read their statements and then connect their blocks to yours. At the conclusion, when everyone has connected their blocks, ask your group to join hands in a circle. Lead your group in prayer for the spirit of unity. Through prayer, “Let’s Build Something Together!”
